Trauma healing is a
deeply personal journey.

Trauma refers to a distressing or disturbing experience that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope.

Trauma can have a significant impact on a person’s life and can lead to a range of emotional, psychological, and physical reactions. Some symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, avoidance of triggers, mood swings, anxiety, depression, changes in appetite or sleep, and difficulty concentrating.

 

There are different types of traumas: acute, chronic, or complex.  Acute trauma is a result of a single incident. Chronic trauma is repeated and ongoing exposure to traumatic events such as domestic violence or other forms of abuse. Complex trauma is the result of experiencing multiple traumatic events and is usually interpersonal in nature . Some people will develop Post-Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) and others may not. It is important to understand that no one gets to judge your reaction to trauma. If something affects you then it is valid and do not dismiss it or let others minimize your feelings toward it.

I will help you heal through trauma focused therapy. It is an individualized process as everybody’s story is unique so different approaches work for different people.

Therapeutic interventions may include identifying and changing negative, unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors associated with trauma.

 

Talking about one’s trauma narrative can be very cathartic and help facilitate positive emotional change. Through discussion, you can achieve a deeper understanding of yourself which contributes to healing.

Engaging in self-care activities can also be beneficial for managing trauma so we can explore ways to incorporate this into your life as well. This can involve maintaining a healthy lifestyle, practicing relaxation techniques (e.g., deep breathing, meditation), seeking support from loved ones, engaging in hobbies, and prioritizing rest and sleep.
